Supermodels without Supersymmetry
A short article in which I try to design and fabricate (in words) a pretty skimpy dress for the Standard Model that’d make whathisname Gunn (Tim Gunn, I recall?) scratch his Project Runway fundamental fashion neurons and blush.
Massive procrastination is so easy, thanks to YouTube. One may even feel one is contributing to discourse. LOL. Here on ZAP Physics there is an awesome lay persons introduction to the Standard Model of particle physics. For me it serves as an excellent territory for ranting about T4G without doing any hard work on T4G.
I have a bit of fun writing the comments. Few “likes” but that is not the motivation. It is a Zen-like art to see if a huge number of fundamental physics ideas can be compressed into a paragraph the typical ADHD youtube comments browsing nerd will actually read. (Yes, an oxymoron, which is why I am not spending lunch breaks writing youtube comments for hopes of gaining followers. It is pure Project Funway.)
Yet I do live in hope that some day some actually good mathematician will read one of my comments and pick up the research and do something useful with the idea. Or prove it all falls apart, I am good with that — let bad ideas die fast, so we do not waste our lives on general abstract nonsense.
Symmetry and the SM
In the very first chapter of ZAP Physics' series, he talks about how symmetries lead to conservation laws. The symmetries for electroweak forces are described as Internal symmetries.
“Of what?” you might ask. What the devil is “internal” to spacetime?
Well you might ask.
I have thoughts on this, so I wrote a comment.
@3:00 and @5:20 the designation “internal symmetry” is just words. There is a way to interpret those words as spacetime symmetries, but of the local topology, not the ambient Minkowski metric/connexion. That is to say, include allowance for spacetime topology transforms, so include the homotopy or homology groups, not just the holonomy (gravity). The entire Standard Model should then fit in 4D spacetime, no CY dimensions are needed. Check out the work on the SM algebra due to Cohl Furey, Anthony Lasenby, Latham Boyle and others. This also implies, to my mind, the SM is quantized gravity (local topology of spacetime). So you should not requantize gravity. That would just invite a whole lot of hurt and pathology and redundancy. GR with nonclassical topology was already a quantum theory.
A follow-up:
Normie physicists baulk at nontrivial topology and derisively dismiss my ideas as permitting “time machines”. It is a bit infantile. Any wormhole would rapidly evaporate, but a minimal ER=EPR wormhole cannot Hawking evaporate, it could not conserve the known topological invariants (like charge, spin, and the like).
Plus, topological censorship (Friedman, Geroch et al) prevents classical mass/energy from traversing or probing an ER=EPR wormhole. Only a qubit could traverse a wormhole, maybe one classical bit? But that is exactly what you need to account for entanglement in GR, and still avoid macroscopic time machines. The GPT frameworks show entanglement is inseparable from superposition, hence interference, moreover, Mark Hadley showed GR with nontrivial topology has the measurement proposition logic of QM, so you get all of QM from nonclassical GR.
I have boiled down these comments over the years, so they are pretty succinct and tasty conserves now. The taste I always get in my mind from T4G is an avocado, so whatever an avocado based jelly conserve is like I guess. Does anyone know?
If I ever get a chance to write a few articles over at T4G that do more than just speculate on the metaphysics then I’ll stick a link on all the subsequent youtube comments rants, and try to post an arXiv paper.

Yep. At this stage in life I am trying hard to wake up a bit to reality and admit some dreams are dying or nearly dead. It is friggin' rough.
The positive is that if I do manage to completely abandon and hold a funeral for T4G theory then it will free me up to focus 100% on MMT and spiritual economics. Who knows then? I doubt I will make any impact on Aotearoa politics, but someone or more likely someones from the MMT community will.

Nöther, the most important mathematician to modern physics nobody knows about. From her I have the impression that chicks grock group theory better than boys. Personal opinion. It’d be fun to mix you up with PBS space time host or Sabine. That would make for an interesting stream, especially with a white board.
